Thomas Frank has made a positive start to life at Tottenham this season, and several players are benefiting from his arrival. Without a doubt, Spurs star Lucas Bergvall is one of them.
There is definitely a positive feeling right now around Thomas Frank because he’s started well in his role as the Tottenham manager, winning four of their opening seven matches across all competitions this season.
Lucas Bergvall, 19, has appeared in every single game so far this campaign. The versatile midfielder is beginning to come into his own during his second season in North London, too.
During a recent interview, Frank praised Bergvall for the work he’s doing in the number 10 position, where he offers so much to the team in and out of possession.
Lucas Bergvall has already improved under Thomas Frank
According to BBC pundit Pat Nevin, Spurs playmaker Bergvall has been the biggest winner in the squad from Frank’s arrival in the dugout.
Writing in his BBC Football Extra newsletter (22 September), Nevin said: “Tottenham might just stay in the conversation this time. They dropped points at Brighton but were dominant on the day. They have their mojo back under Thomas Frank and of the players he inherited Lucas Bergvall has arguably made the biggest leap forward.
“Some players just need to know the manager believes in them to suddenly become an even better player and more forceful presence. Spurs have won three and drawn one when Bergvall has started – losing the two when he didn’t.”
Bergvall, who’s been warned not to run so much, brings an infectious energy on the football pitch. It’s certainly combined with guile and end product, too.
The teenager has the potential to be one of Spurs’ best purchases in the transfer marker for quite a long time, especially now he has a manager who’s trusting him more and more.
A breakout year for Lucas Bergvall
Even though Spurs fans noticed the obvious talent in Bergvall when he joined, it feels like this could be the season that he properly introduces himself to English audiences.
