After Liverpool moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, Arne Slot has been discussing which clubs he still thinks are in the title race.

The Reds defeated Southampton 3-2 to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League after 12 matches. Meanwhile, Tottenham sent shockwaves around the division as they emphatically produced a 4-0 win over Manchester City.

The North London club ended City’s 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad Stadium the Lilywhites ran riot over Pep Guardiola’s men. Slot has now made a bold prediction as to where the Lilywhites could finish this season.

Arne Slot names Tottenham as title challengers

Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes that Tottenham remain in the Premier League title race following their 4-0 win over Man City. The former Spurs target claims that Ange Postecoglou’s side can put a run together to close the gap on his Liverpool team.

There is a 12-point gap between Spurs and Liverpool, and four teams are separating them, so the North London club would require a miracle to get back into the title race.

Slot told the media: “I think it was later in the season that Arsenal led by eight points and City came back. You know if you face Arsenal, City, Chelsea or Tottenham who were great yesterday [winning 4-0 against City] and can win so many games in a row. It’s nice to have this position but we are definitely not getting carried away.”

What is Tottenham’s run of fixtures over Christmas?

Tottenham face a hectic Christmas schedule as they play 11 matches across the next 38 days. Next up they host AS Roma in the Europa League.

Spurs are still competing in four competitions this term with their Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United on December 19. The Lilywhites face some tricky Premier League matches too against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
