Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa was somewhat marred by injuries suffered by Richarlison and Cristian Romero who were both forced off.

Tottenham Hotspur produced an emphatic display to see off Aston Villa 4-1 as they jumped up into seventh place and just two points of the top four.

Dominic Solanke returned to the scoresheet as he netted a brilliant brace with two great finishes whilst Brennan Johnson and James Maddison also netted.

However, the North London club will now be sweating over the fitness of Richarlison and they have been given an update on the Brazilian’s hamstring issue.

How bad is Richarlison’s hamstring injury?

Tottenham have been told by injury expert Physio Scout on X that Richarlison has likely suffered a hamstring strain, similar to Micky van de Ven.

The 27-year-old suffered the issue when setting up Solanke’s second goal and looked visibly upset when he had to go off with yet another issue.

Van de Ven has been ruled out until after the international break and Richarlison is likely to be the same now, although scans are needed to determine an actual timeframe.

A grade one strain would rule the forward out for two to four weeks whilst a grade two would see him miss four to six weeks.

Postecoglou updates on Cristain Romero and Heung-min Son

Postecoglou explained Romero was feeling pain in his foot after a heavy tackle on Morgan Rodgers which forced him off.

After the win over Villa, Postecoglou told the media: “Romero’s was in that challenge he felt his foot was sore. He’s a tough cookie so for him to come off it must have been painful. I don’t know much about [the injuries] yet.”

Meanwhile, Postecgolou has revealed he was always planning to take Son after 55 minutes as the South Korean suffered an issue the last time he played for over an hour.

Postecoglou told BBC Sport: “He was never going to play more than 55 minutes. Last time he came back from injury he got to the 60-minute mark and got injured again. He got through unscathed.”
