Maddison and Postecoglou share special moment after Man City win
James Maddison and Ange Postecoglou were spotted sharing an embrace after the full-time whistle against Man City. The England international starred in Spurs’ 4-0 win as he netted a first-half brace against the champions.
The 28-year-old was making just his first start in the Premier League since October 19 having been overlooked by the Australian coach. Maddison had been told Spurs were better without him, however, against City, he certainly proved that not to be the case.
As for talk of Maddison and Postecoglou falling out, that has been quickly quashed by the pair celebrating together in front of the away support.
Postecoglou gives his honest verdict on James Maddison
Postecoglou admitted after the game that he thought the midfielder was ‘outstanding’ and that he never doubted his ability. The 59-year-old claimed that the way he expected the game to go against City was the reason he brought Maddison back into the team.
Postecoglou told Sky Sports: “He was outstanding. You have to be against Manchester City, every aspect of the game challenges you. Madders was great today, he’s gone through a bit of lean spell but I never doubted his ability.
“I just thought the kind of game today was going to be was really going to suit him and he did outstandingly.”
