Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is set to do something no other Spurs manager has been able to do in half a decade.

Only 90 minutes separate Tottenham and the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign with a trip to Bramall Lane ahead of them on Sunday.

And the full-time whistle will mark the end of Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in charge having been appointed in the summer.

Although the last month or so has seen the results fall off a cliff, Spurs are still on course to secure themselves Europa League football.

Last season, Spurs failed to qualify for any form of European football so this season does mark an improvement.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was divided on Tuesday night against Manchester City and it saw a frustrated Postecoglou after the game.

However, Sunday’s game against Sheffield United will mark something fairly telling about the club’s recent history under Daniel Levy when Postecoglou marks the end of his first campaign.

Ange Postecoglou is set to mark pretty telling Tottenham record on Sunday

Since sacking Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, Tottenham have lacked identity with Levy chopping and changing managers.

Since the Argentine’s exit, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have come and gone.

This season has marked progression at Tottenham but there is still work to be done and the last month has certainly shown that.

But Postecoglou has provided Tottenham fans with something to get behind and believe in and it seems the board are also behind his plans.

When the full-time whistle blows on Sunday, Postecoglou will become the first Tottenham manager to complete a full season in half a decade.

Pochettino was the last manager to do so during the 2018/19 campaign as he was sacked just months after in November 2019.

With Mourinho and Conte both joining the club midway through their respective campaigns, neither were able to complete a full term.

Ryan Mason saw out both the 2020/21 and 2022/23 season with Nuno Espirito Santo lasting just a matter of months amongst all that.

Time for Tottenham to invest in Ange Postecoglou

The Tottenham board need to show they are backing the manager over the coming summer with the past two windows providing reassurances that the signings they’ve made have paid off.

However, it is also time for the Tottenham fans to get behind their manager after a rocky few days at Hotspur Way.

The past few days have certainly been testing for Postecoglou but he has now held his hands up and admitted he got it wrong against Manchester City.

When the Australian was appointed it was apparent this was not going to be a quick fix after a dreadful season under Conte.

Spurs have improved in Postecoglou’s 12 months and are showing signs of improvement. It has been seen that ‘win now’ managers do not work at Tottenham.

So now it is time to back the manager ahead of what could be an exciting 2024/25 campaign.
