Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has now become the first Spurs boss to beat an Unai Emery side in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites picked up three huge points on Sunday at Villa Park in what was an emphatic second-half display.

Ange Postecoglou’s men now move within two points of fourth-placed Villa and hold a game in hand over them.

Tottenham’s top four charge

It was a game which felt like a must-win for the north London side with three points for Villa taking them eight points clear.

And that is exactly what Tottenham did thanks to goals from James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Heung-min Son and Timo Werner.

It is now back-to-back wins in the Premier League for Spurs and, according to Squawka, Postecoglou has now done something no other Spurs boss has done.

The win on Sunday marked the first win for Tottenham over a side managed by Emery in the Premier League.

Emery’s only other defeat to Spurs came back in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals during his time as the Arsenal boss.

Momentum on Tottenham’s side

The Lilywhites now face a trip to Craven Cottage on the weekend where they will face a Fulham side who tasted defeat on the weekend.

Spurs have already tasted League Cup defeat at Craven Cottage this season and will be keen to avoid any slip-up in their top four pursuit.

Following the miserable defeat against Wolves, the performances – mainly in the second halves – have improved massively.

The victory over Villa saw Spurs claim all three points, but they were able to put in a real statement in the top four race.

Momentum is certainly on Tottenham’s side now, however, they have a huge April ahead of them.

A trip to Newcastle United is the followed up by games against, Manchester City, Arsenal and then Liverpool in May.

So there will still likely be a lot of twists and turns in the race for the top four, but with those games on the horizon, Spurs can’t afford to be dropping points in games against Fulham and Luton Town prior.
