Ange Postecoglou could receive a huge boost ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Aston Villa this weekend.

After a near-flawless start to the season, the Aussie boss has been short of luck over the past couple of weeks at Spurs.

Tottenham were flying high at the top of the Premier League before the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago.

Postecoglou lost half almost half of his favoured starting XI in the London derby, with James Maddison and Micky van de Ven picking up injuries.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were both sent off, with the latter picking up two yellow cards after Romero was shown a straight red.

While Udogie missed the game against Wolves due to suspension, there have been concerns over his fitness after he was left out of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad.

But it seems that Tottenham are hopeful he will be back in time for Sunday’s tricky clash against Aston Villa.

The Athletic reports that Spurs hope Udogie will be available for selection on Sunday.

It’s noted that the Italian full-back has been shaking off a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the win over Crystal Palace last month.

While Tottenham undoubtedly missed Romero, Van de Ven and Maddison at Wolves, they felt the absence of Udogie equally.

The 20-year-old has been exceptional at left-back this season and slotted into Postecoglou’s system perfectly after returning from a loan spell at Udinese.

While Emerson Royal provides a safe pair of hands, he doesn’t offer the same quality going forward.

It would be a huge boost for Postecoglou to have Udogie back for a vital game in North London on Sunday.

Villa will head into the game full of confidence after a brilliant start to the season.

Udogie is pivotal to how Postecoglou wants to play and having him back will boost Tottenham’s chances of picking up a positive result against Unai Emery’s side.
