Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has admitted there is something that even he is struggling with at Spurs.

The north London club go into their game on Thursday night against Chelsea on the back of their second consecutive defeat in the league.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side were beaten in the North London Derby on Sunday which has all but brought an end to their top four hopes.

But there is no time to dwell on their shortcoming with yet another London Derby on Thursday when they travel to Stamford Bridge.

Although it has been a season of progression for Tottenham, it is apparent there is still a lot of room for improvement.

And there is now something, in particular, which the Australian has admitted he is struggling to get his head around since joining the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou reveals what is proving an issue for him at Tottenham

Since Daniel Levy appointed Postecoglou last summer, there has been a lot of change around Hotspur Way.

A number of new faces have come through the doors with the likes of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson all providing upgrades at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But there has been one player which has stood out about as much as any other in the club’s new goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian has looked to be a sensational replacement for Hugo Lloris and will likely be a mainstay between the sticks for years to come in north London.

However, there has been one slight issue with the 27-year-old goalkeeper that has been noticed and it is his presence from set pieces.

On a number of occasions now, the Italian has looked slightly weak in dealing with inswinging corners.

But speaking to the media on Wednesday, Postecoglou has admitted he feels his keeper could receive more protection from the officials.

“I think he’s seen that there’s a challenge,” the Australian said about the Italian being targeted by the opposition.

“It’s something that even I’m struggling with because I watched the Champions League last night and there was a foul given on the keeper straight away. We’re trying to get clarity on it.”

What Chris Sutton said about Guglielmo Vicario after the North London Derby

Spurs have conceded a lot of goals this season for a side who have battled for Champions League qualification.

However, that figure of 52 could have been a lot higher had it not of been for the Italian goalkeeper.

But two more corners were scored on the weekend against Spurs and Chris Sutton slammed the 27-year-old on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I think the goalkeeper is a problem. I think the goalkeeper, who we have all given praise for the way he can play out from the back, the way that he sweeps at the back, but I do think that teams like Arsenal would have done the homework and targeted Vicario because he looks [shaky],” Sutton said.

“I can’t remember the team earlier this season where he was very shaky against, but there was one particular game where he got sort of found out, didn’t he? And I think that would be sort of passed around, coaches would have gotten onto it and will know that he doesn’t want to come, and I think it’s a massive problem if teams know your goalkeeper is vulnerable and uncertain.”
