Antonin Kinsky was hooked after 17 minutes as Tottenham lost 5-2 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

It was a miserable night for the goalkeeper, with Peter Schmeichel sending sympathy to Kinsky after the game.

Kinsky was making a rare appearance between the posts for Tottenham but after a second error in 17 minutes, Igor Tudor replaced his custodian with Guglielmo Vicario.

In the aftermath, pundits and experts have been having their say, with Alan Shearer now delivering his verdict.

Alan Shearer stunned by Igor Tudor reaction to Antonin Kinsky substitution

It’s quite remarkable to see a goalkeeper hauled off after just 17 minutes of action but ultimately, it was a case of needs must on this occasion.

Kinsky had dropped two clangers in the opening exchanges and Tudor decided to go with the also erratic Vicario.

BBC pundit Shearer couldn’t believe the decision made by the manager and felt his reaction to his own decision was a disgrace.

Shearer said: “He probably had to bring him off. But the one thing for me would be that the lack of I don’t know the lack of care or the lack of for even just to blank him on the way past just totally totally blank him. You can imagine how he’s feeling.

“Everyone would have to feel for him. But for  Tudor to just blank him on the way past him, that was the most cutting thing for me.”

Kinsky can bounce back from this

Kinsky is only a young goalkeeper and he can still come back from this to enjoy a solid career with Tottenham.

When Vicario broke his ankle last season, Kinsky was a safe option between the posts, and one shocking performance hasn’t all of a sudden made him a bad goalkeeper.

The man-management skills on display for Tudor in the Metropolitano were nothing short of embarrassing and that is a cause for concern.

Surely, a heavy defeat by Liverpool this weekend will almost certainly spell curtains for Tudor, with Tottenham set to face Forest the following weekend in a huge relegation six-pointer.
