Paul Gascoigne has shared a story about Gary Lineker at Tottenham Hotspur which left Alan Shearer and Micah Richards in hysterics.
Gascoigne is still regarded by many Tottenham fans as one of the greatest-ever players to wear the shirt.
The former England midfielder was known for his cheekiness but also his genius ability with the ball at his feet.
During his four years at Spurs he won the hearts of supporters, particularly after his stunner in a North London Derby FA Cup semi-final in 1991.
Tottenham picked up the trophy that year and it’s fair to say that despite his individual brilliance, ‘Gazza’ also played alongside some top players during his time in north London.
Gary Lineker certainly falls into that category and was also part of Tottenham’s FA Cup-winning side of 1991. The duo became particularly close during their time at Spurs together and often linked up in devastating fashion.
Gascoigne joined Lineker on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football this week and had an interesting story to tell about his former teammate.

Gascoigne shares story about Lineker at Tottenham
Gascoigne was asked how he found playing alongside Lineker during their time at Spurs together.
Richards said: “What was Gary like to play with Gazza? I know you’re calling him ‘Lynx’ on this but what was he like as a person and player?”
“When I first met him, I knew he was lethal anyway because I used to watch him at Barcelona, when we first signed he had to do his medical and he was lying down naked and I swear down I fancied him straight away,” Gazza responded.
“He was fit as anything. Tanned, smooth, handsome, he had everything and the works.”
His comment left Richards and Shearer in hysterics before the latter joked: “And he had a massive pair of… lugs [ears].”
Gascoigne teased Lineker further by adding: “Yeah, trophy head.”
But the former Tottenham midfielder did also have huge praise for his old teammate.
“Because he was lethal and so quick I then had to be quick as well and it was only until I worked him out,” Gascoigne added.
“He used to do this thing in front of him [points] with his finger so when he did that I knew he was spinning off, I worked that out. When he was going that way, I knew he was coming short.
“After a while he just started banging goals for fun, he was unbelievable to play with. Somebody up front with so much talent.”

Gascoigne’s Tottenham career
It’s well-documented that Gascoigne snubbed a move to Manchester United to secure a switch to Tottenham in 1988.
While the decision left Sir Alex Ferguson furious, Spurs were certainly fortunate to have Gascoigne at the peak of his powers. His brilliance helped Spurs to what remains their last FA Cup triumph.
The England star racked up 111 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 33 times and providing six assists, before joining Lazio in 1992.
