‘A scandal’… Kyle Walker says player Tottenham sold for £11m was so good it ‘shouldn’t have been allowed’

Kyle Walker has waxed lyrical about a former Tottenham Hotspur player who was so good ‘it shouldn’t have been allowed’.

The Manchester City star played with some exceptional players during his time in north London.

Walker was part of what is widely regarded as Tottenham’s best side of the Premier League era so far under Mauricio Pochettino.

Before leaving to join Man City back in 2017, Walker lined up alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, just to name a few.

But one name who is continuously mentioned by players from that side is Mousa Dembele. 

The Belgian midfielder joined Chinese Super League side Guangzhou for £11 million back in January 2019 after struggling with injuries that season. 

Danny Rose has already claimed that Tottenham would have won the Champions League had Dembele remained at the club and played in the final against Liverpool.

Now, his former teammate Walker is the latest to rave about Dembele’s ability, claiming the midfielder would be good enough to play for Manchester City.

What Walker has said about former Tottenham star Dembele

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE, Walker claimed Dembele was good it was a ‘scandal’.

“He is a scandal, he is a scandal – a scandal!” Walker said. “The only thing Dembele didn’t have was assists and goals.

“Everything apart from assists and goals, he was stupid at, it shouldn’t have been allowed.”

When asked if Dembele was good enough to play for the current treble-winning City side, he responded: “One million per cent.” 

Spurs are yet to replace Dembele

We all believed we had our Dembele replacement in Tanguy Ndombele after the Frenchman arrived at Hotspur Way in the summer of 2019.

Of course, despite having the technical ability to become that player, it just hasn’t worked out for Ndombele at Spurs.

In truth, we are unlikely to see a midfielder like Dembele at Spurs once again. The former Fulham was unique in the sense that he could effortlessly glide past players while also boasting the physical attributes to dominate a game in the middle of the park.
