Tottenham Hotspur have seen one of their players admit he is currently unhappy at the club.

The comments have been made during the international break, but the individual is now set to return to Hotspur Way.

It could make for a frosty interaction with Ange Postecoglou ahead of their game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend.

What Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said

The arrival of Postecoglou has seen Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s game time dramatically reduced over the 2023/24 campaign.

Hojbjerg has only made six starts in the Premier League all season and has not even played 50 minutes over the last five games.

Having joined up with the Danish national side, Hojbjerg was able to get himself on the scoresheet against the Faroe Islands and played almost the full game against Switzerland.

And he has taken his opportunity to open up on his struggles in north London this season.

He said: “Of course, I’m not happy with what’s going on at the club. It’s not a secret, but it’s not something I make a fuss about either.

“I can put my head on the pillow knowing that I’m giving it my all to show the coach that he should believe in me. This is not the case at the moment, and it’s the coach who has to explain why.”

What’s Alasdair Gold said about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future

It’s not been an easy season for Hojbjerg having been demoted out of the starting XI since Postecoglou’s arrival.

And it is the last thing he would have wanted going into the Euros in the summer.

However, it looks like his time in north London may not last much longer with the 28-year-old looking set to leave in the summer window.

The midfielder will go into the summer with just one year remaining on his current deal and journalist Alasdair Gold has admitted he is a player who is expected to move on.

He said: “If you’re Ange Postecoglou do you start Hojbjerg against Luton? Would you bring him into it? It’s difficult because Hojbjerg isn’t the future of Tottenham Hotspur. We know he’s going to go in the summer. He’s got one year left on his deal and all signs are pointing towards the exit.”

It is not just Gold’s comments which point towards a potential summer exit for the Dane.

He has also signed up with a new agency ahead of the transfer window. He is now working with an Italian firm having been heavily linked with a move to Serie A.

It has been claimed both Juventus and Napoli are showing an interest in the 28-year-old.

With the strength Spurs now have in their midfield, it is unlikely he is going to be a player they will miss if they are to part ways over the coming months.
