It proved a bittersweet night for Mathys Tel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs drew 1-1 with Leeds United.

Tel curled in a superb effort five minutes into the second half to give Tottenham lift-off and breathe life into the push for survival.

A point for Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham against Leeds. What did the boss get wrong?

However, disaster struck when Tel decided to clear a high ball with his foot instead of his head and caught Ethan Ampadu in the face, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin earning Leeds a share of the spoils.

Despite an indifferent night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tel said something at half-time that took a matter of minutes to come to fruition.

What Mathys Tel predicted at half-time that came true

Sky Sports did a half-time interview with Tel, and he made a prediction about the second half, and within five minutes, he duly obliged.

Tel suggested that his confidence was going to stay sky high and he fancied making a difference in the second half against Leeds.

He said: “We had to move the ball quickly, make them move. Just create the opportunity and make sure that we can finish it. Mentality. We have to give more energy. We have to sprint more, run more. It is always about doing more, but I am confident about the second half – we will do it.”

Ultimately, this was one of those nights for Tel where he managed to do something brilliant but couldn’t make the complete performance.

Tottenham will have to take the point and try to do what they seldom manage and claim all three points at Chelsea next week.

Tel will hope to keep contributing, and in large, this performance was much more positive from the versatile forward.
