Tottenham Hotspur suffered a shock defeat to Ipswich Town as they gifted the visitors their first win of the season.

Ange Postecoglou’s team have now suffered five defeats in the Premier League after just 11 matches with the pressure now mounting on the manager.

First-half goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap were enough to see Ipswich hold on for a 2-1 win over the North London club. The Lilywhites missed a huge chance to move third with a win but will now head into the international break languishing down in tenth.

Tottenham fans were left particularly unimpressed by one player who had a shocking game against the Tractor Boys as he struggled to contain their forwards.

Pedro Porro’s shocking performance vs Ipswich Town

Pedro Porro had a woeful afternoon against Ipswich Town as he played a key role in both the visitors’ goals. The Spaniard’s defensive frailties were once again exposed by another Premier League side, but this time it was against the team sitting second from bottom.

The first goal was from his as he was caught ball-watching as Sammie Szmodics scored a wonderful overhead kick with the defender just allowing it. The second Ipswich goal was again from down his side as he failed to shut down a pass into the area which was eventually turned into the Spurs goal by Radu Dragusin.

One of the most damming stats to come from the game was that the 24-year-old also managed to lose possession on 26 occasions.

Porro has shown to be a brilliant attacking full-back but the major question marks around his defending are making it harder to justify keeping him in the team.

Tottenham fans fume at Pedro Porro’s performance

Tottenham fans were left fuming with Porro’s display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and made a clear point about his poor defensive abilities.

Fans have taken to X to vent their frustrations towards the defender and how he does not seem to suit such a role in the team.

In response to Ipswich’s first goal, one supporter said: “Pedro Porro should not be sitting off and watching him do that, weak defending from him again.”

Another fan called for Djed Spence or Archie Gray to replace him: “Pedro Porro is terrible! Scores his occasional banger goal and everybody defends him when he costs us plenty of goals every game defensively. Gray and Spence are both much better alternatives.”

“Ange’s system isn’t fit for players like Udogie and Porro and it’s almost impossible They have to attack and defend at the same time for 90 minutes. How is it possible? This is the Premier League,” added another.

Finally, one supporter made the point that Porro’s ability going forward does not justify how bad he is in defence; “Just cause he’s okay going forward doesn’t mean Porro is good, he needs to learn to defend, been saying this since last season.

“He just leaves his man in acres of space, and Spurs fans ignore it cause he’s ‘passionate’ and he occasionally scores from one of his 1000 wasted shots.”

Porro certainly needs to buck his ideas up and sort his defensive abilities out because he keeps being at fault for teams having much joy down Spurs’ right-hand side.
