Tottenham named just seven substitutes away at Anfield, which included two goalkeepers and three academy players.

But the manager’s trust in Olusesi paid off, as the 19-year-old came off the bench and showed no signs of fear against the Premier League champions.

Callum Olusesi impresses during Liverpool vs Tottenham

After Max Dowman scored for Arsenal and Rio Ngumoha looked Liverpool’s biggest threat, Spurs were shown the importance of trusting the academy.

Away at Anfield, Tudor did exactly that as he handed Callum Olusesi 14 minutes off the bench against Liverpool.

The teenager took his opportunity with both hands with a very solid cameo in what was a very important result for Spurs.

Olusesi was on the pitch for Richarlison’s equaliser, and it will have been quite an amazing experience for the youngster, helping the team secure a massive point.

The 19-year-old didn’t do anything flashy, but made sure he did all the basics right, completing all eight of his passes, completing three carries and two recoveries.

The Spurs academy star has been around the first team for a while now, having been on the bench during last season’s Europa League triumph.

Back in January, Spurs rejected a £6 million offer for Olusesi from Hoffenheim and PSV Eindhoven and opted to hand the youngster a new contract instead.

Hopefully, now, Tudor will continue to give him chances off the bench for Tottenham, having shown he was more than comfortable at that level.

Callum Olusesi on Tottenham’s relegation fight

Olusesi insists that everyone at Tottenham needs to stick together right now to get out of the relegation battle.

“It’s a dream come true, there’s been a couple of games where I’ve been on the bench, loads actually, but to get on the pitch – it’s a great feeling,” Olusesi told SpursOfficial.

When asked how good a feeling it was to be on the pitch when Richarlison scored, the youngster added: “Yeah, it’s good we need all the points we can get right now.

“Obviously, we’re not in the best situation, but if we all work hard and stick together, we’ll be able to get out of it.”
