Tottenham Hotspur supporters noticed something Ange Postecoglou has been doing with Dominic Solanke that is starting to worry them.

Tottenham were pegged back late on against AS Roma as Matts Hummels rescued a point for the Italian side. The Giallorossi earned a 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a stoppage-time equaliser from the veteran German defender.

The draw with Claudio Ranieri’s side leaves them in ninth place and just behind Rangers who moved above them into the top eight, with a trip to Ibrox up next in the Europa League.

Despite another game without a goal, Solanke impressed against Roma, however, the North London club’s fans are becoming concerned by one major issue.

Tottenham fans worried Ange Postecoglou is overusing Dominic Solanke

Tottenham fans are becoming worried that Ange Postecoglou is starting to overuse Dominic Solanke as the striker started for the 13th time in Spurs’ last 15 matches. Especially given the way Solanke is such a proactive forward, dropping deep and pressing from the front, fatigue to bound to strike him badly at some point.

In fairness to Postecoglou, he doesn’t have many options to rest Solanke with Will Lankshear suspended Richarlison sidelined with a hamstring injury and Mikey Moore unwell. A solution could have been starting Heung-min Son or Dejan Kulusevski down the middle and having Timo Werner or James Maddison start over one of them.

After the game, Spurs took to X to share their concern for Solanke and called for the North London club to back Postecoglou with another attacker in January.

One supporter said: “Solanke was decent to be fair, I think those last 15 minutes were his worst and he was probably tired.”

“Absolutely wasteful with all the chances. Got to be more ruthless. Solanke looks extremely tired but is still giving his all,” added another fan.

A fan called for Tottenham to bring in another striker: “I love Solanke but he was shattered last 30 minutes tonight. Spurs should have got rid of unreliable Richarlison and bought another striker.”

Dominic Solanke’s stats vs Roma

Solanke did have a decent game against Roma, but the supporters were right, in the last 30 minutes or so, the 27-year-old looked shattered. The striker messed up some good chances to put the Lilywhites out of sight by making the wrong decision.

When his all-round game is as solid as it was against Roma, his lack of goals will be forgiven. But in the last half hour in North London, he looked shattered.

The striker will now have to dust himself down and he is ready to go again against Fulham on Sunday. Tottenham must follow up their win over Man City with another three points against the Cottagers.
