Ange Postecoglou has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur duo Destiny Udogie and Oliver Skipp played through illness at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Tottenham boss has been speaking to the media after today’s 2-2 draw at Manchester United.

Spurs will feel they deserved to pick up all three points after a dominant display on the road.

Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur got amongst the goals and earned Spurs a well-deserved point after falling behind twice in the game.

Dejan Kulusevski missed out due to illness, adding to Spurs’ long list of absentees, which includes the likes of James Maddison, Heung-Min Son, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

Now, Postecoglou has admitted that many of his players have ‘struggled’ with illness this week, with Skipp and Udogie playing the full 90 minutes today despite being under the weather.

Postecoglou says Skipp and Udogie played through illness at Old Trafford

Speaking to the media, Postecoglou said that along with a few others, Udogie and Skipp have been struggling with illness this week.

“Deki [Kulusevski] was so desperate to play,” the Spurs boss said. “Skippy, Destiny, two or three others have struggled with it.

“Doesn’t matter though, these guys are not going to make excuses. Sessegnon had a slight niggle after last week but he should be back with us soon.” as quoted by Football.London.

It was a real shame to see Kulusevski miss out today and Spurs were lacking creativity in the middle of the park.

Skipp put in an industrious performance though, especially when you consider the fact he was struggling with an illness all week.

The same goes for Udogie, with the Italian putting in yet another encouraging display at left-back.

Things are starting to look up again for Postecoglou as he prepares to welcome a host of key players back over the coming weeks.

Tottenham sit just five points behind league leaders Liverpool and it feels like we are gearing up for an exciting second half of the campaign.
