Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven was left seriously impressed by the performance of one of his teammates on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side were finally able to end their dismal run of form which has seen them fail to win a game in the Premier League for a month.

Their latest defeat against Liverpool did not provide many positives but Richarlison coming on and scoring from the bench was one.

However, in the build-up to the game, the Brazilian suffered a muscular injury in training at Hotspur Way which could well curtail his season.

But Spurs were still able to get the job done at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without a natural striker.

Goals from Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven sealed the comeback and put three big points on the board for Tottenham.

Having scored himself and earning the Supporters’ Player of the Season award, Van de Ven took to social media after the game to hail one of his teammates.

Micky van de Ven left wowed by teammate’s performance

What a signing Van de Ven has turned out to be for Tottenham. Not only has the Dutchman transformed the way Spurs can set-up defensively, but he’s also chipping in with some big goals.

The 23-year-old may still feel hard done by after his North London Derby goal was chalked off by VAR for a controversial offside.

However, the goal against Burnley on Saturday will have eased the frustrations of recent weeks which has seen the Spurs backline take a bit of a beating.

It is not just Van de Ven who has impressed this season at the back for Tottenham, though.

Although the record may suggest otherwise, the Spurs defence has been quite impressive on the whole and at the heart of it has been Cristian Romero.

The Spurs vice-captain has been sensational all season long and has massively improved his discipline record with just six yellow cards to his name this term.

After the game, the 26-year-old posted on his Instagram account with a message to the fans.

“It was important to score again and win. Great game by all. Thanks for always supporting me,” he said.

And Van de Ven quick to comment on the post and hail the Argentine’s display as ‘grande’ – translating as big.

Heung-min Son may wear the armband, however, his vice-captain, Romero, is certainly the player who leads by example on the pitch.

The Argentine has been a really important figure in what Postecoglou is building in north London through the tempo he sets from the back.

After the recent North London Derby, Postecoglou hailed Romero as the Argentine was one of just a couple players who came out of the game with any credit.

“He was outstanding. He’s a World Cup winner and I’ve just got to get some of what’s in him into some of the others,” he said.
