Tottenham conceded in the first half through Dominik Szoboszlai with his free kick escaping Vicario’s reach and ending up in the net.

Tudor was quizzed on his goalkeeper at the end of the contest and defended his under-fire custodian.

Igor Tudor praises Guglielmo Vicario

Vicario was given some praise for his efforts against Liverpool on Sunday, even if he might have done better with the goal scored by the hosts.

Tudor clearly knows he needs his goalkeeper between now and the end of the season and was keen to deflect any blame from his shoulders in the aftermath.

He said in his press conference: “No, I didn’t see. We know how he (Szoboszlai) shoots. So, it is not easy. I didn’t see it exactly in the game. Vicario was good today, he was good.”

Now, the Italian can take heart from helping Tottenham to a big point and it will be fascinating to see if his form can improve in the coming weeks.

Vicario has become integral to Tottenham’s fortunes

Antonin Kinsky has showcased this week that he doesn’t really have the required quality to play for Tottenham in their current predicament, and that means Vicario is the only senior stopper available.

😠 Should Guglielmo Vicario have saved Dominik Szoboszlai’s free-kick?

Should anything happen to Vicario, Spurs might be in a spot of bother and these comments from Tudor suggest that he knows he’s going to need his goalkeeper this season.

In truth, Vicario did do well against Liverpool and this point is a positive result to take into this week’s games against Atletico and Forest.

Tudor might have turned a corner with this latest post-match press conference and perhaps the penny is dropping that he needs to be extremely careful what he says about a fragile bunch of players.
