Tottenham Hotspur stunned Manchester City as they dumped Pep Guardiola’s side out of the Carabao Cup to reach the quarter-finals.
Goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr secured the win for the North London club and helped them knock the favourites out of the competition.
Ange Postecoglou’s side produced an emphatic response to their defeat to Crystal Palace with an impressive showing against the Premier League champions.
Spurs enjoyed a strong first-half against City before grinding out the win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the second half. The only disappointing of the evening was Micky van de Ven suffering a bad hamstring injury.

Tottenham Hotspur player ratings vs Man City
Guglielmo Vicario – 7
Guglielmo Vicario enjoyed another solid performance in goal and will be hugely disappointed not to have come away with a clean sheet. He made several key saves to keep out City for large periods.
Destiny Udogie – 7
Destiny Udogie was forced into the game very early on as he replaced the injured Van de Ven. The Italian produced one of his best displays of the season, impressing at both ends of the pitch.
Cristian Romero – 7
A very solid evening from Cristian Romero as he kept City’s attack relatively quiet throughout the first-half. However, he was withdrawn early on in the second period, seemingly as a precaution.
Radu Dragusin – 7
Radu Dragusin looks set for a spell in the team following Van de Ven’s injury and on his first start in a major game, he really did impress. The Ropaminain has shown himself to be a great penalty box defender and like Romero, kept the Guardiola’s side at bay.
Archie Gray – 5
In fairness, he was up against Man City, but it is clear that right-back is not the best role for Archie Gray. He got skinned several times and left the back post unmarked for Matheus Nunes’ goal.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 7
Rodrigo Bentancur did a great job in the middle for Tottenham and kept the team ticking over. Not entirely sure why Postecoglou picks Bissouma over the Urugyian.
Pape Matar Sarr – 8
Pape Matar Sarr made a strong case for starting more regularly for Tottenham as he really impressed in the middle of the park. The Senegalese midfielder scored a wonderful strike from outside the area.
Dejan Kulusevski – 9
Dejan Kulusevski’s incredible campaign continues as he once again ran the show against Man City setting up both of Tottenham’s goals. The Swede’s performance will have left Guardiola feeling quite envious of Postecoglou for having a player like him.
Timo Werner – 7
Timo Werner deserves big credit for his display as he netted the winning goal with a great finish to round off a great counter. The German did miss some great chances to kill the game, but overall, he worked very hard to help secure the win.
Brennan Johnson – 5
A quiet evening for Brennan Johnson who struggled to get into the game, nothing of note for the Welsh winger.
Dominic Solanke – 6
Dominic Solanke worked very hard for the team, but there comes a point when the team needs their striker to start scoring goals and he didn’t look much of a threat against City.
Subs:
Yves Bissouma – 7
Ben Davies – 7
Richarlison – 5
Mikey Moore – 6
Micky van de Ven – N/A
