Tottenham Hotspur snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in their League Cup third-round meeting with Coventry City.

Spurs looked set to fall to a second morale-sapping defeat in the space of four days, only for two late goals to put them in the fourth round.

Tottenham struggled for much of the match and conceded in the 63rd minute, Brandon Thomas-Asante netting a simple finish from close range.

However, Djed Spence equalised for Spurs in the 88th minute, pouncing on a superb Dejan Kulusevski through-ball and firing home first-time.

Then, in added time and with penalties looming, Rodrigo Bentancur slicing the Coventry defence open with a ball for Brennan Johnson to neatly chip over the keeper.

Several Tottenham players earned praise from fans after the game, with one in particular getting plaudits and calls to start every match.

Dejan Kulusevski earns praise from Tottenham fans

The player in question is Dejan Kulusevski, who came on as a substitute in the 74th minute and changed the game for Spurs.

The £25million man played in the middle and delivered a solid display for the Lilywhites, capped off with his superb assist for Spence to get the equaliser.

Here is what some Tottenham fans said about Kulusevski:

How did the media rate Kulusevski?

The Evening Standard gave Kulusevski an 8 out of 10 rating and wrote: ‘Had a goal-bound effort blocked and set up the equaliser for Spence. Looked far more purposeful than any of the starters.’

Likewise, football.london went with 8 out of 10, adding: ‘Another big performance from the Swede up front and he held the ball up well before playing in Spence to score.’
