Ange Postecoglou will surely hand Oliver Skipp his second Premier League start of the season on Saturday.

Oliver Skipp replaced Brennan Johnson midway through the first half in the 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest last time out.

The 23-year-old put in a promising display in the middle of the park, with Dejan Kulusevski moving out wide.

Spurs were forced to put in a resilient performance at the City Ground following Yves Bissouma’s red card in the 70th minute.

It was the type of display that suited Skipp’s qualities. But the Spurs academy product also injected plenty of energy into the midfield before Bissouma’s reckless challenge.

And in our view, his performance at Forest should earn him a place in the starting XI on Saturday when Spurs face Everton.

Skipp will surely start against Everton

Postecoglou has often favoured Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg over Skipp when turning to his bench this season.

The Dane has even earned a few starts but has failed to impress when handed the opportunity in the starting XI.

Skipp is yet to be used in the deeper-lying midfield role in Postecoglou’s side. But with Bissouma sidelined, it feels like the right time to give him a run in the side.

The 23-year-old has played in the No6 role throughout his career and will provide plenty of energy in Bissouma’s absence.

Of course, Hojbjerg arguably boasts better qualities when it comes to his ability with the ball at his feet.

Yet, Skipp has shown flashes of his ability while playing in a more advanced No8 role this term.

The Englishman has been lauded as a ‘outstanding’ talent but it just hasn’t quite happened for him at Spurs as of yet.

With Spurs facing two months without Bissouma, it may be the right time for him to get an opportunity to shine in his natural position.
