Ange Postecoglou has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison gave the ball away far too often against Fulham last night.
Spurs were dumped out of the League Cup at Craven Cottage on penalties following a disappointing display.
Postecoglou made nine changes to the side which beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Saturday, with only Richarlison and Micky van de Ven keeping their places.
It’s fair to say the number of changes contributed to a disjointed display and Van de Ven’s own goal gave Fulham a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Richarlison finally opened his account for the season as he headed home after a brilliant delivery from Ivan Perisic in the second half.

The Brazil star’s effort forced the game to a penalty shootout and Davinson Sanchez’s missed spot-kick led to Spurs exiting the Carabao Cup at the first time of asking.
Despite breaking his duck, Richarlison endured a difficult night as he struggled to hold the ball up and bring his teammates into play. And Postecoglou spoke to Football.London about the £50 million striker’s display after the match.
Postecoglou on Richardson
Speaking to the media following last night’s cup exit, Postecoglou suggested Richarlison, among others, kept giving the ball away far too easily.
“I get why other people look at that [Richarlison’s goals] and I understand that but for me it’s about contributing to our football, how we play.
“I thought we gave away the ball a bit too much tonight, not just him but a few players in that boat.
“It’s an important part of our game and that’s the stuff I want Richy to improve on. I think the goals will come.
“Our strikers, our attacking players will get opportunities to score. Our all-round game is much more important at this stage.”

It’s no secret that Richarlison struggled during his debut season at Spurs last time out.
The 26-year-old netted just once in the Premier League and only managed two goals in the Champions League.
He’s under increased scrutiny this season following the departure of Harry Kane but his goal last night should give him a much-needed boost in confidence.

Richarlison struggled once again last night but he certainly wasn’t alone as Tottenham’s second-string team put in an underwhelming display.
It’s good to see him back amongst the goals though and that should give him a lift heading into Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor.
