Ange Postecoglou was left unimpressed with Tottenham Hotspur’s first-half display against Brighton yesterday.
Spurs fell behind in the 17th minute after Micky van de Ven made a rare error at the back and brought Danny Welbeck down in the area.
Pascal Gross stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to beat Guglielmo Vicario.
Tottenham were largely second-best in the first half and struggled to play through Brighton’s press.
Despite a dramatic improvement in the second half which led to a 2-1 win, Ange Postecoglou feels his Spurs side have plenty to work on at Hotspur Way over the coming days.

Postecoglou ‘really disappointed’ after Tottenham beat Brighton
Speaking to Spurs Play after yesterday’s win, Postecoglou admitted he was disappointed with the performance, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
“There was a lot I didn’t enjoy today,” the Spurs boss said. “We were really poor first half and some of that was Brighton are a good side.
“Very disciplined, well-coached and we lack those things. We lacked real discipline, we took some liberties with and without the ball. It was really disappointing.
“Second half I thought was better. We had a good response.
“Obviously when you’re chasing a game, you’re always susceptible to counter-attacks but I thought for the most part we handled that ok.
“We probably just edged it in the end and deserved the points but plenty to work on.”

While we remain in a decent position in the league, our performances haven’t quite been up to the required standard of late.
Of course, much of that is largely down to injuries and absentees. But with key players returning, you’d expect Postecoglou to demand a lot more from his side over the coming weeks.
It’s refreshing to hear the Aussie boss not resting on his laurels after Brennan Johnson’s late winner.
With the likes of Heung-Min Son, Yves Bissouma and James Maddison back in the side, we’re expecting an exciting end to the season under Postecoglou.
