Ange Postecoglou has shared an update on Micky van de Ven after the Tottenham Hotspur defender was forced off with an injury at Villa Park today.

The Aussie will be delighted after Tottenham picked up a comfortable 4-0 win at Aston Villa on Sunday.

Spurs put in a dominant performance on the road, with James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Heung-min Son and Timo Werner all on target.

But there is one concern for Ange Postecoglou as Micky van de Ven was forced off with an injury in the 49th minute.

The Dutchman was replaced by Radu Dragusin, with the January signing stepping up well in what was a big game for Spurs.

Now, Postecoglou has provided an update on Van de Ven and seems to have played down suggestions that the injury could be a serious one.

Speaking to the media after today’s win, Postecoglou claimed that Van de Ven believes the injury isn’t too significant.

“I’m not sure, he doesn’t think it’s anything too significant,” the Spurs boss said. “So disappointing for him because he was outstanding again up until that point.

“Great for Radu to come in, his first significant game-time in a big game and I thought he handled it really well.” as quoted by Football.London

Van de Ven returned from a hamstring injury in January which had ultimately kept him sidelined for around two months.

Up until being forced off today, the 22-year-old was once again Tottenham’s standout defender.

The Dutchman has quickly become one of our most important players as he so often sweeps up with his impressive pace.

It would be a huge blow to lose the centre-back once again as we head into the business end of the campaign.

While Dragusin performed well today, Van de Ven’s recovery pace and composure on the ball would be sorely missed.

Postecoglou’s update will at least provide some hope that his injury isn’t a serious one though.
