Tottenham Hotspur slumped to a shock defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town as the visitors secured their first Premier League win since 2002.
Ange Postecoglou’s team have now lost five of their first 11 Premier League matches and will now head into the international break all the way down in tenth. First-half goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap proved decisive as Ipswich held on for a 2-1 win in North London.
Postecoglou has taken full responsibility for the defeat, however, he has called for the Premier League to sort out one clear issue, which the away side did plenty of times at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou frustrated by Ipswich’s time-wasting
Postecoglou has called for the Premier League to start putting measures in place to prevent teams from time wasting but admits Tottenham will just have to accept it until there is change.
Kieran McKenna’s side did a great job frustrating Tottenham with the number of times they managed to take with every set piece. Ipswich drew a staggering 19 fouls and had 15 goal kicks, all of which they took their time over.
Postecoglou told BBC Sport: “It seems to be the way the Premier League is going. Clubs are taking strategic time-outs. We just have to cop it. It’s up to the officials not me.”
Ipswich were well within their rights to frustrate Spurs the way they did, but time-wasting from teams is becoming a real issue in the Premier League which needs to be sorted.
Tottenham can blame time-wasting but weren’t nearly clinical enough
Tottenham and Postecoglou can complain about time-wasting all they want but ultimately, they weren’t nearly clinical enough against Ipswich.
The North London club managed 17 attempts on goal but only created an expected goal tally of just 1.82 on a bitterly frustrating afternoon.
Meanwhile, nine of their 17 shots were off target as Dominic Solanke and Spurs attack had a real off day in front of goal.

Postecoglou revealed after the game that Solanke played through an injury, suggesting why the striker was just so disappointing against the Premier League new boys.
