Archie Gray moved to Tottenham in 2022 and now there is a new narrative emerging that could see Oliver Boast walk a very similar path.
Boast was in action on Tuesday as Tottenham’s under-18 gave supporters something to cheer against Arsenal, running out 4-1 winners in the mini-North London derby.
Boast was in action during that contest and given that he signed from Leeds, the 16-year-old is naturally going to draw plenty of comparisons to Gray at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Gray has been in strong form since checking in from Elland Road and given the club’s injury issues since he signed, he’s been given plenty of opportunities to play in the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League.

Oliver Boast can walk similar Tottenham path to Archie Gray
Given that he’s only 16, Boast is unlikely to get thrust into first team action just yet – even if his performances for the under-18s this season have been impressive.
With strikers in short supply at Tottenham, Boast will be quietly confident that he can get an opportunity at some point in the future even if it’s not forthcoming soon.
Boast is a centre-forward who can also operate in a deeper role and unlike Gray, he was plucked from Leeds for a small fee before he had chance to make his mark at Elland Road.
Boast has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for the under-18s this season and also registered three assists, with his latest one coming in the 4-1 thrashing of Arsenal.
Footage of the under-18 derby showcased his assist and his delivery for Reiss Elliott Parris to finish was nothing short of exceptional.
Boast can use Gray as a role model
Given that he came through the academy at Leeds, Boast will likely be close to Gray and he can now use the 19-year-old as someone to look up to.
It’s taken the midfielder a little bit of time to get going in the first team at Premier League level but he’s now grasped the opportunities that have been presented to him with a number of injuries to contend with for Tottenham.
Boast looks like a star member of the under-18s this season and with a few more games at that level under his belt, he might feel confident stepping up to play under-21 football in the Premier League 2 campaign next year.
The teenager needs role models and given how well Gray has adapted after stepping up from the Championship, Boast will naturally be looking to learn as much as he can from the first-team star.
